Have you ever considered how much of your time is spent networking?
1 hour a week?
3 hours a week?
5 or more hours a week?
If you invest that much of your valuable time in an activity, what’s your strategy? Successful networkers know that a well-thought out strategy brings the strongest return.
However, many business professionals network without a specific outcome in mind. At your next networking event, think about what you can give and what you want to receive, like:
• Knowledge
• Information
• Opportunities
• Contacts
• Referrals
When you attend the networking event and someone asks you, “how can I help you,” you’ll have an answer. “I want to be introduced to John Smith at XYZ Corporation, if you know him.” Return the favor by asking them what they want to get from the networking. Watch as opportunities show up.
