Language.
It’s how we:
Communicate what we need.
Create collaborations and ideas.
Communicate with ourselves and others.
Language creates our world. If language creates our world, then it makes sense to notice the language we use. When others started using the term social distancing, I chose to use physical distancing – the desired behavioral outcome. When the popular response was to “stay safe” again I chose to say, “stay healthy”. The reality was I was safe. Thankfully, there are no bombs going off in my front yard and I had no wild animal chasing me.
And, if I could use language to create my world, then I could use it to create a possibility to live into. The possibility I created was: Prolific peace of mind, purposefully prosperous, and proactively healthy.
Then, I took action consistent with that possibility. I was surrounded by an amazing team and strong business owners who showed great strength and support even during the circumstances giving me peace of mind. Out of over 200,000 small businesses nationwide, I was chosen as 1 of only 11 in my state to win a small business grant. I also actively engaged in physical exercise almost every day.
Language is a powerful tool. So what kind of words are you using to create your desired world?
