According to recent reports, the number of self-published books titles has grown nearly 60 percent. Most of these writers are business owners.
Business owners are becoming savvy to the strategic advantages that self-publishing brings. When your book gets on the best sellers list, you’ll find, like they did, doors more easily open and you can gain expert status in your chosen field.
In addition, your business sales increase, you start to charge more for your speaking engagements, and you can get more press attention. Selling your self-published books in bulk can be a great profit maker, too.
Fortunately, there are dozens of places to sell self-published books. Some of these places include corporations, associations, and non-profits.
As a self-published author, I have found many ways to sell my book beyond retail book stores. One of the ways is through an often over-looked segment of buyers that frequently purchase books in large quantities. This niche market is comprised of companies that purchase books to motivate, educate, or incentivize their staff.
Before you randomly call companies, you want to understand what’s important to them. Once you have a good understanding of what’s important, you can outline how your book will improve their profit, situation or problem.
A word of caution before you call: The buyer may not even be someone in their purchasing department. Depending on the content of your book or the problem your book solves, you may need to contact another leader in the organization, like the Human Resource Director.
Whenever I speak about hardwiring and how much hardwiring impacts sales, team dynamics, and communications, my book, Me, Myself, and Why? The Secrets to Navigating Change is a nice compliment that reinforces how teams can work together by understanding how others give and receive their information. I provide several options or packages in how the organizations can use the book to reinforce what they already learned through my speaking engagement or training.
If you are an organizational consultant, include a bulk book option into your training package. When they see the value that you bring as a speaker and trainer, it’s no brainer to invest in your book which will serve as a handy resource guide to cement their staff’s education.
