Want to be Part of the Ripple Effect?

March 7, 2019 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

Isn’t it interesting how opportunities just show up when you’re committed to an outcome?

As you know, less than two years ago, I stepped boldly into my Contribution in the World and transformed an old building into Business Innovation Lab Coworking and Conference facility. It seemed like a natural extension of the mentoring and organizational development we’ve been doing with businesses for over 17 years.

I’ve been wondering how we could further expand our offerings when, out of the blue, an opportunity showed up. Sometimes unexpected opportunities just show up and you take inspired action.

So, I took action and applied for a FedEx small business grant and could really use your help. If you’re wanting to be part of the ripple effect we’re creating, I would really appreciate your vote HERE.

(Check out the snazzy video we created with the help of Brainstream Creative.) We need a lot of votes to win and you can vote more than one time.

There’s another way to be a part of the ripple effect that I talk about in my Fed Ex video, too. Simply by registering for any of our workshops or mentoring programs, like our upcoming Create Your Signature Program, you become part of the ripple effect. You see, we donate a portion of your registration to support our Charity of Choice, Camp Casey, a nonprofit that provides horseback riding programs to children with cancer and rare blood disorders.

Create Your Signature Program is a two-day practicum that has you move from thinking about how all of your programs and services come together to actually creating a unique way to distinguish your company in the marketplace. You will design your distinctive approach so you stand apart from everyone else offering similar programs, products or services. You will bridge the gap between seemingly disparate areas of your business.

One of our attendees wondered how to connect her retail and wholesale businesses. Through the one-on-one mentoring Welcome Call, she identified the synergies between two very different areas of her business and discovered a pathway to expand the wholesale side of the business.

This practicum is expertly designed from the moment you register. You’re mentored through the process of designing an experience your clients will enjoy—from enrollment, continuity, and through to completion.

If you’re inspired to be of the ongoing ripple effect we’re creating at the Business Innovation Lab, I invite you to register today for Create Your Signature Program to be held on March 28-29, 2019 at the Business Innovation Lab in Livonia, Michigan.

Interested or Committed?

January 3, 2019 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

interested-or-committedAmerican Author, Kenneth Blanchard wrote, “When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when it’s convenient. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.” His words are profound. When goal setting (as many people do at the beginning of the year), this quote prompts the question, are you interested or committed?

One of the key tools I use consistently to achieve results in my business and in other areas of my life is my Business Blueprint, which is now our Excelleration App. It is an existence system that I not only use, but show my clients in how to scale their business and how they will influence other areas of their life consistent with their Contribution in the World. The Excelleration App has made it even easier to work with their teams so everyone is on the same page, moving in the same direction.

On one occasion, I had a client who had identified a number of goals in various areas of his life. In some areas he didn’t produce the results he intended. I asked him to reflect on those areas and to ask himself if he was merely interested or committed in each area. He stopped and reflected a moment. A light bulb went on giving him a new level of freedom in choosing the domains of life (or areas of life) he was committed to influencing.

When developing your goals this year, the answer to the question, “Are you interested or committed?” can provide a new insight in what goals you write down. Consider that:

Interested starts exercising every January
Committed makes health a way of life making consistently good food choices, scheduling time for workouts, and focusing on wellness.

Interested reads a book
Committed consistently applies the book’s principles or steps

Interested likes the idea of scaling a business
Committed writes down a plan, consistently takes action to execute the plan, and tracks their results

If you are committed to reaching your goals this year, identify the domains of life (or areas of life) you are committed to influencing:

Business / Profession / Career
Health
Relationships
Community / Philanthropy / Volunteerism / Citizenship / Advocacy
Spirituality

If you’re using our Excelleration App, first enter the domains you want to influence. Once you identify the domains, you’ll be able to set up the Goals for that particular domain of life.

P.S. The best place to start goal setting is creating foundational focus areas, like your Contribution, Vision, Mission, and Values to name a few. That way, you’re aligning the domains and goals with your desired future. If you haven’t designed your focus areas, pick up Me, Myself, and Why? The Secrets to Navigating Change. There are a number of exercises to identify your vision and values.

Celebrating 2018

December 27, 2018 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

I don’t know about you but it feels like this last year as flown by. It seems like just last month I got the keys to my new building, dubbed the Business Innovation Lab, when it was really last December!

Since that time, we renovated the property, collaborated with our sponsor-partners, opened our doors for the Excellerate Associates headquarters, and expanded to offer coworking, executive suites, office space and conference space. I couldn’t have done it without my wonderful teams. I say teams because it took different teams at different times to accomplish this amazing transformation.

Thank you for being a part of this amazing metamorphosis! Whether you’re part of our Enewsletter Community, attended our networking events or workshops, connected on social media, or are a client, sponsor-partner, Charity of Choice, or Affiliate, you are part of making this happen. And, I am deeply grateful.

Let me know what you think of the video, okay! Enjoy the rest of your holiday season, too!

Wishing you every blessing in 2019!

A Simple Way to Innovate

September 6, 2018 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

When you research the highly successful innovators, like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, or Stephanie Louise Kwolek (inventor of Kevlar and National Inventor Hall of Famer), it’s easy to assume they tap into something. How is it that they create ideas that change how we operate in the world?

The answer is, they exercise their brain. They get in the habit of shifting into what’s possible.

It’s not that innovative people don’t get stopped or stumped. After all, operating a business or creating new technology comes with a lot of challenges.

What differentiates the highly innovative is shifting out of the stuck place. Whether you are stuck in a decision or hit a creative slump, there is a simple way to shift in order to innovate your way out.

When confused, you become mentally paralyzed. It’s natural for people to consider this or that causing a rise in anxiety, fear or frustration. You get stuck because you consider only two options: this or that.

When your mind gets fixed in a this-or-that scenario, your creative juices stop. Get those innovative juices flowing again by considering how tasks or options can be integrated.

When you’re stuck in a this-or-that scenario, ask yourself how you could combine options. By integrating solutions or taking pieces from both options, you find brand new alternatives that can work.

When I challenged a client about expanding a new line of business she had been talking about starting for some time, she immediately pushed back. She looked at the addition as something “extra” and her plate was already full.

She was stuck in a this-or-that mindset. If I expand my already full plate, I’ll be even more busy and I can’t handle anymore.

Then, I simply asked her to consider a concept from my book, Me, Myself, and Why? The Secrets to Navigating Change. The concept is called the and solution. How could she expand her business and work less?

Suddenly, the light bulb went on. We looked at creating a team and how she could build a bigger plate rather than adding more on her existing plate.

The and solution can be applied in many ways, including:

• Negotiating a contract where there is a deadlock
• Idea generation for a new product, service, or invention
• Reaching team consensus
• Making a decision

A simple way to get unstuck in your business is simply asking the AND questions:

• Where could you integrate solutions (a bit of this solution AND a bit of that solution)?
• When up against a deadline instead of overloading one employee, could you enroll employee A AND employee B to complete a project on time?
• What would be possible if you could scale your business AND have more time for the important things in your life?

Where in your life could you use the “and” concept to innovate? Considering the “and” option can open up a world of possibilities.
