Why Your Company’s Contribution in the World is Important

July 7, 2021 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

My clients have said that one of my superpowers is connecting seemingly disparate ideas. It’s probably why I’m so passionate about taking a systems approach, which is a holistic approach that connects all pieces of a business.

One of the key pieces in successfully scaling a business is getting connected with your Contribution in the World. Your Contribution is the outcome of your work. When you connect with your Contribution, it opens up a whole new world of opportunities. It changes the context under which you operate. Your Contribution in the World serves as a filter that expands your thinking, ideas, and leadership.

When one of my manufacturing clients created their Contribution in the World, they not only expanded their business lines, they also created additional safety measures when manufacturing their products resulting in reduced worker’s compensation claims. They integrated their Contribution in the World at a level that it’s now part of their company culture. It’s used not only to educate new hires, but it also is used as a tool to guide their expansion.

When you connect all of the pieces of a business, you shift your view of what’s possible and produce breakthrough results. If you are inspired to identify your Contribution in the World, I invite you to join us for our Introduction. You will connect with your Contribution in the World, understand how to align your human wiring with your work, and understand a holistic approach to leading.

How Your Contribution in the World Alters Your Day

August 22, 2019 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

There are a lot of business owners throughout the world. According to some reports, the total amount of companies all over the world is about 200 million.

I think we can agree that some businesses are less physically challenging than others. However, one owner, in particular, has an especially demanding business. He owns a dairy farm.

It’s demanding work in an industry hard hit by multiple economic, political, and environmental factors. Yet, every day this dairy farmer and his team go to work.

Every day they show up whether it’s below zero or over 90 degree with humidity. From sun up to after the sun goes down, they nurture crops and care for the animals.

Every. Single. Day.

And, every single day they feed 35,000 people an 8 ounce glass of milk. Thirty-five thousand people depend on him and his crew.

It takes a strong context (and conviction in feeding 35,000 people) to get up each morning and do the work. Yet, that’s what they do. That’s how important context is for a business owner.

It’s easy to start your day by focusing on the tasks, like reading emails, meeting with staff, or fixing what’s broken. You get wrapped up shifting from one thing to the next. It’s no wonder by the end of the day, you’re mentally spent. Before you know it, you’re living in the context of “I don’t have time”, “I’m so busy”, “I don’t have the resources”.

What if, instead of operating in a limiting context of what you don’t have, you identified, communicated, expressed, and illustrated your company’s bigger contribution in the world?

When you are present to a contribution that inspires you, you expand your thinking, create opportunities, and work out whatever needs to be worked out. That contribution becomes a powerful, new context by which you take action. You explore how you could serve a new market, expand to new uses for your product, or invent something brand new.

When you are grounded in your bigger contribution, it alters your approach to your day. When you are crystal clear on your contribution your business has in the world, you’ll be more apt to align your action, create brand new opportunities, and identify new ways to serve your community at a higher level.

When you serve your community at a higher level, you create a ripple effect. Through your ripple effect, you contribute to the world in innovative ways.

Your Contribution and It’s Ripple Effect

August 1, 2019 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

With each moment, you have an opportunity to express yourself, provide leadership, and make a powerful contribution in the world. Your contribution, that is the result of your body of work, has a ripple effect in the world.

Your contribution can make a profound difference in a person’s life. Every day you don’t share it with the world is a day someone is missing your contribution in their life and the people in their life.

You make a difference because you, and only you, have a unique way of delivering your contribution. In understanding your uniqueness, you open up a world of new opportunities. In getting connected with your Contribution, you create a new capacity to innovate with impact.

If you’re inspired to powerfully connect with your Contribution in the World, cause a movement through your work, and increase your leadership by understanding your natural wiring, consider this my personal invitation to experience our upcoming workshop:

Contribution or Circumstance

February 8, 2018 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

By its nature, business ownership can be a risky venture. It involves committing time, money, and resources to a business idea in hopes of making a difference.

As we expand our continuum of services to small businesses by opening up a co-working and conference space, stepping into my Contribution in the World becomes more important, especially when there are breakdowns. When things don’t go as planned, destructive doubt can creep in and sidetrack even the most experienced entrepreneur.

Destructive doubt is present when you allow the in-the-moment circumstances to affect your commitment to your contribution in the world. With destructive doubt in your head you start to play the commitment game. Competing commitments might sound like this:

I want more business, but I don’t have time to hire anyone else.
It’s better to have a substandard performing employee than to take the time to hire someone else.

I want to have a bigger business, but I want more freedom in my life.
Maybe I shouldn’t start X because I don’t know if it will be successful.

When you take action consistent with the destructive doubt versus your bigger commitment and contribution to the world you start to make assumptions.

You assume that the employee is unable to do the job so you start telling her what to do rather than clarifying objectives, coaching, and training her. You assume creating something better or bigger will mean a lost somewhere else.

Your struggle on the inside will always cause a a ripple effect on the outside. It will show up in the mismatch of business you attract or don’t attract, misaligned marketing messages, employee disengagement, and delayed results.

If you try to build something from destructive doubt, you’re competing commitments cause you to spend a great deal of energy attempting to satisfy each. Managing your business in this cloud of ambiguity is frustrating for you and confusing to your customers and your team.

As a leader, you have a loss of personal power when you allow yourself to take action on your destructive doubt rather than on your Contribution in the World. These doubts create inner conflict. Inner conflict creates stress. Stress amplifies your biological hardwiring.

So, you can see the ripple effect, yes?

The key is to create awareness on and be clear what you are committed to. So when the going gets rough (and it will at some point), you can stay steady and in action with your contribution versus the circumstance.

What commitment will you make today to cast aside destructive doubt and co-create with others consistent with your contribution in the world?
