There’s a reason goal setting is used by successful business people, athletes and achievers in all fields. Goal setting is used to focus on what’s possible empowering you to organize your time and resources.
When you set clearly defined goals, specific objectives, and clear metrics, it’s easy to see your forward progress. As you meet those goals and objectives, you will raise your self- confidence, your ability, and capabilities.
There’s a little word that creeps into the systematic process of executing those goals that stop entrepreneurs from getting more clients. The little word “but” can sidetrack you from realizing your greatest dreams. The word “but” is such a tiny word that so many give such power.
Let’s break down the word: B.U.T – Being Utterly Tiny. That’s what you’re saying to yourself when you use the word but. To illustrate:
• I know I need to exercise to reach my goal weight B.U.T. I don’t have time.
• I want to make $_____ next year B.U.T. I don’t want to be inconvenienced.
• I really need help in my business B.U.T. I don’t have enough money.
These self-limiting statements do nothing to empower you to solve the problem. This word also limits your ability to think beyond your current situation.
The reality is if you want anything bad enough, you will cause it to happen. The key is to get off your “but”. Instead, ask yourself “what are my possible options”?
• What are the possible options to incorporate exercise into my full schedule?
• What are the possible options to work less and make more?
• What are the possible ways to build a team?
When you get off your “but” and consider the possibilities watch as doors open to solutions and results beyond measure.
