As the pandemic persists, many companies find that selling as well as training and conferences have moved either partially or entirely to the virtual world. When approached strategically, there are many advantages to participating in the virtual world especially if your company sells to the corporate buyers.
In a recent webinar, one of the panelists said that the advantage to virtual conferences is that it takes travel out of the equation. While it may seem like an obvious statement, it’s the opportunity that exists for suppliers that is most important part of this comment. Without travel, corporate buyers can now open up more spaces in their schedule to meet with new suppliers at these virtual conferences since they don’t have a travel day.
This is a big win for companies who supply products or services to large corporate buyers. Michelle Richards, Executive Director of the Great Lakes Women’s Business Council says, “There are major advantages to the virtual conferences, like our upcoming 2021 Business Conference on September 28-29. Because it has virtual networking, 1:1 sessions, and break out sessions, it gives women-, minority-, and veteran-owned businesses a chance to collaborate and network with buyers, sponsors, and other business owners across the country without having to travel. Buyers have said that they have more availability because travel isn’t cutting into their schedule, a win for certified businesses in getting their products and services in front of these buyers.”
Not only can you expand your network and have opportunities by participating in virtual conferences and events, you now have an implementation day rather than a travel day. We’ve kept our hybrid learning platform in place for 2021 to give out-of-state business owners the options to attend our business-building master classes virtually. While it’s more challenging to lead a hybrid class, feedback has been positive and people online feel like they’ve been a part of the onsite experience. They can use the day after to implement rather than boarding a plane.
