Are You Operating on Autopilot?

March 6, 2025 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

The first time I met the CEO of a rapidly growing company, I listened—not just to his words, but to the cues of his human wiring.

As he shared about his business, I quickly discerned that he was someone who liked to act on his own ideas, thrived on verbal communication, juggled multiple tasks, and preferred a loosely structured work environment.

Curious about his company’s growth, I asked if things were slipping through the cracks. His immediate response? “Yes.” I continued with a series of targeted questions, each met with the same realization. Finally, he paused and asked, “How did you know?”

The answer is simple: When you understand how people are wired—how they process information, make decisions, and respond under pressure—you can anticipate challenges before they arise. And when you communicate in a way that aligns with their natural wiring, it’s the highest form of respect and connection.

In fast-growing companies, human wiring becomes amplified under pressure. If not managed, it influences everything—from decision-making to team dynamics to company culture. Many people unknowingly operate on autopilot, only to wonder why they aren’t achieving their desired results.

When you understand human wiring, you can put the right systems, leadership distinctions, and teams in place to achieve success a lot easier.

Bucket List

February 27, 2025 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

I never set out to visit all 50 states in the US. It wasn’t a written goal, a bucket list item, or even a conscious decision at first. But over the years, through business trips, personal adventures, and unexpected detours, I found myself inching closer to that milestone.

Then one day, I looked at a map and realized something surprising—despite being from Michigan, I had never been to Florida. It’s almost unheard of and became a running joke with close friends, family, and clients. Floridians and Michiganders practically have a migration route between them, yet somehow, I had managed to visit 47 states without stepping foot in the Sunshine State. That’s when it became a goal. Not just something that “would be nice” but something I wrote down, committed to, and planned for. I even had plans to go a year earlier, but plans had to change. This year, however, I made it and now have 48 states under my belt.

The funny thing is, that’s often how business also works.

Most entrepreneurs don’t start with a perfect linear roadmap. They take action, adapt, and suddenly realize they’ve built something incredible. And the moment you get intentional—when you put pen to paper and define your vision—that’s when the real momentum kicks in. Writing down your goals brings clarity, accountability, and a roadmap to measure progress.

I’ve seen it time and again in our programs and services: those who document their goals achieve more, pivot more effectively, and stay focused even when challenges arise. Whether it’s scaling your company, launching a new initiative, or optimizing operations, success is more likely when it’s written, reviewed consistently, and refined.

So, whether your goal is to visit all 50 states, travel to the continents, or take your business to the next level, start writing it down. Your success might already be closer than you think—you just need to put it on the map.

Wired to Win: Inspire Others Into Action – Reduce Turnover – Become an Effective Leader

February 20, 2025 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

Have you ever been in a meeting and one person monopolized the conversation where others had great ideas but never shared them?

One of the biggest challenges professionals face in meetings is creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their perspectives and ideas. Often, this happens because we overlook a key factor—how different people are wired to process and communicate information.

Take the Internal Thinker, for example. These individuals are naturally introspective and logical. In group settings—especially when discussing new topics—they tend to stay quiet, not because they don’t have valuable insights, but because they prefer to process information before speaking.

So how do you ensure an Internal Thinker actively contributes? The answer is simple: send an agenda in advance.

Since Internal Thinkers like to reflect before sharing, giving them a clear agenda with discussion topics ahead of time allows them to prepare their thoughts. When they have the opportunity to process information beforehand, their participation in meetings becomes more meaningful and impactful.

By understanding and adapting to different communication styles, you create a space where everyone can contribute at their best. It’s a small shift that leads to more engaging, productive, and effective meetings.

I have hundreds of case studies in how business professionals reduced turnover from 99% to 0 in 3 months or how they increased sales 90% in 30 days by learning how human wiring works.

That’s exactly what we’ll dive into at Excellerate Associates’ Wired to Win: Your Path to Passion, Purpose, and Prosperity. This isn’t just another leadership seminar. It’s an experiential master class where you’ll step into live role-play exercises that show you—in real time—how to transform communication, build confidence, and even increase sales conversions. By the end, you’ll walk away knowing how to:

-Motivate others into inspired action
-Elevate your leadership impact with precision
-Maximize performance and productivity effortlessly
-Master the art of enrollment to create real buy-in—whether it’s with clients, employees, or stakeholders

If you want to become a highly effective business professional, I invite you to register by February 28, 2025 for the Wired to Win: Your Path to Passion, Purpose and Prosperity on March 27-28, 2025. As an added bonus, when you register by February 28, you will receive a scholarship ticket to the Wired to Win 101: How Are You Hardwired session on March 14, 2025.

New Profitability Lab Cohort – Accepting Applications

February 6, 2025 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

For over 20 years, Excellerate Associates has helped thousands of businesses scale using a systems-based approach—one that takes a holistic view of building a profitable, sustainable company. It’s this proven methodology that has led our alumni to achieve remarkable results—some seeing an 800% return on their investment in our Startup Lab, while others, like a participant in our Profitability Lab for second-stage businesses, successfully positioned their company for acquisition by a multi-billion-dollar public firm.

While many entrepreneurial education and support programs focus on fostering innovation, growth, and problem-solving, they often fall short in one critical area—implementation. Entrepreneurs are left to figure out how to apply what they’ve learned on their own. That’s where our Profitability Lab for Second-Stage Businesses changes the game.

Our approach isn’t just about strategy—it’s about execution and implementation. Below are some common frustrations our clients have faced when trying to achieve their growth goals—and how the Excellerate Associates Profitability Lab helped them break through. You might find some of these resonate with your own journey; and, if you are inspired, we invite you to submit an application to join the next cohort on the link below:

Other Programs: Focus on Incremental OR Disruptive Innovation – Programs often encourage safe, incremental growth or disruptive innovation. Impact: This leads to a lack of groundbreaking solutions that could redefine industries.

Solution: With the Profitability Lab, we believe in the “and” solution. A solution may involve both incremental and disruptive ideas that, when married, develop a workable innovative growth solution. You receive a customized experience and roadmap tailored to each entrepreneur’s specific business stage, industry, and goals. You’re not left guessing how to implement. You’ll see results because you have the ongoing support to have it happen.

Other Programs: Generic Curriculum – a one-size-fits-all approach, focusing on broad, traditional business principles that may not align with the unique challenges of individual entrepreneurs or industries. Entrepreneurs often leave without actionable insights tailored to their specific needs or business models.

Solution: The Profitability Lab developed by Excellerate Associates has practical, implementable tools targeted for each of our cohort members with actionable insights. Cohort Members see results because they are acting on it monthly and return to their group to celebrate outcomes and overcome barriers to implementation resulting in scaling further faster.

Other Programs: Lack of Real-World Relevance – Curricula often prioritize theory over practice, leaving participants unprepared for the nuanced, dynamic realities of running a business.

Solution: This Profitability Lab builds a roadmap with each business owner to translate what they learn into real-world execution, even under unpredictable circumstances.

Other Programs: Overemphasis on Venture Capital – Programs often glorify venture capital funding as the ultimate path to success while neglecting alternative financing options.

Solution: In the Profitability Lab, cohort members explore strategies for sustainable growth.

Other Programs; Insufficient Focus on Human Wiring and Leadership – Programs gloss over or often neglect specific ways to align business roles with individual strengths and human wiring.

Solution: In the Profitability Lab, cohort members identify strategies and efficiencies, become a Hiring Hero, and create cultural processes that increase employee engagement.

Other Programs: Failure to Teach Resilience and Adaptability – Many programs focus on fixed programming (e.g., business plans) rather than teaching entrepreneurs how to iterate and pivot in response to market changes.

Solution: In the Profitability Lab, entrepreneurs grow their personal development and awareness to spot when they become overly rigid and learn new tools to overcome evolving challenges with greater freedom and ease.

Other Programs: Overemphasis on Startup Phase – Programs often center on launching a business rather than scaling, systematizing, or sustaining it over time.

Solution: In the Profitability Lab, cohort members experience practical leadership tools to develop systems or processes that manage growth, understand their numbers, develop decision-making frameworks, and address operations shifting from Business Owners to CEO.

Other Programs: Insufficient Mentorship and Networking Opportunities – Programs frequently lack high-quality mentorship and robust, action-oriented networking opportunities with experienced entrepreneurs and industry leaders.

Solution: The Profitability Lab Cohort Members support each other and learn from entrepreneurs with practical, battle-tested real-world experience.

Other Programs: Neglect of Emotional Support – Programs rarely address the stress, isolation, and emotional weight of entrepreneurship.

Solution: In the Profitability, we take a holistic systems approach so all areas of life work. Members intentionally create a Blueprint that focuses not only on the business but on other Domains of Life, like their well being, decision making tools aligned with their Contribution in the World, and their long-term success metrics.

Other Programs: Limited Integration of Technology and Trends – Many programs lag behind in incorporating emerging technologies, global market trends, and contrarian business models.

Solution: The Profitability Lab intentionally sets protocols to strategize and consider innovative next-level strategies.

In the Profitability Lab, you will experience:

• Practical and Results-Oriented Learning: A practical, scenario-based training and mentorship from seasoned entrepreneurs for ongoing implementation of your strategies.

• Team Focus: You can’t build your business alone. We include leadership, human wiring, and team alignment to build resilient, scalable businesses.

• Adaptability Training: Incorporate modules on resilience, pivoting, and navigating uncertainty.

• Global and Technological Awareness: Develop systems to reflect on the latest trends, technologies, and market opportunities.

• Continuous Feedback Loops: You benefit from an invested cohort over a 24 month period. Imagine what you could accomplish with ongoing support!

Excellerate Associates also actively seeks input from its clients and Strategic Alliances. This feedback informs program updates and ensures the program remains relevant and responsive to changing needs of entrepreneurship, the market, and the global changes.

Our next cohort Lab begins in January 2026. If you are committed to expanding your brand, leadership, and personal development, I invite you to apply to be in our next cohort at https://www.excellerateassociates.com/profitability-lab/

The Hidden Struggles of Business Ownership: What People Don’t See and How to Keep Going

January 30, 2025 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

As we celebrated the Business Innovation Lab’s eighth anniversary and Excellerate Associates 22 year anniversary, I recalled someone once telling me, “You make it look easy.”

I laughed out loud.
Easy?

Renovating the building, filling the coworking and private suites, and simultaneously running Excellerate Associates was anything but easy.

Coordinating teams, making thousands of decisions during the renovation, and completing it all within two months was a monumental challenge.

When I purchased my building, it had sat vacant for over seven years. In that time, people had turned the parking lot into a convenient pass-through, cutting through the side entrances and exiting out the front. The stop sign at the end of the street was just feet away, yet routine had them taking the shortcut.

To keep my tenants safe and prevent further damage to the lot from constant traffic and multi-ton trucks, I put up a simple chain across the side exits with “No Pass Through” signs.

It didn’t go over well.

Rather than go to the stop sign just a few feet up, drivers plowed through the chain—breaking it repeatedly—just to keep their shortcut or turnaround intact.

Others treated the lot like free storage, parking their trucks and trailers without asking.
When I put up the chains, my tires were slashed.
So, I installed cameras.

Time and again, the cameras caught trucks barreling through the chain instead of turning around. One winter, a driver tried to bypass the chain entirely, driving onto the grass—only to get stuck on a rock buried under snowfall. He had to call a tow truck, leaving behind a mess that required landscaping repairs.

I have hundreds of stories like these.
Yes, hundreds.

Yet, I don’t post them.

Why? I choose to focus my energy.

It’s not that I don’t get angry. I do.
It’s not that I’m not annoyed. I am.
It’s not that I don’t feel defeated. I do.
It’s not that I haven’t shared my frustrations. I have.

But then I remember why I do this.
I remember my Contribution in the World—the impact of our services.

And then, I choose.
I choose to focus on that Contribution, not the circumstances.
I choose to release the anger, annoyance, frustration and defeat.
I choose to reframe and start fresh each day.

Some days, that choice seems hard.
I choose anyway.

Choose powerfully…
