Scaling Your Business and Trust

July 26, 2018 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

Success is fundamentally based on an action. After all, you can’t be successful in running a business without action.

But, what you take action on has a critical element: Context.

If you don’t create a context then the context lives below the surface in your beliefs.

If you believe that no one can be trusted, you’ll be unusually hard on those who actually have your back. Perhaps it is to prove that nobody can be trusted. If you dare to look at all areas of your life, somewhere you don’t know if you can trust yourself.

Perhaps you’ve carried around a past relationship where someone you trusted went against that trust. And, you never forgot it only to bring it up into every other business relationship.

Every action you take is now based on the context that nobody can be trusted.

When scaling your business, what is created from the context that nobody can be trusted? You might look for evidence that you protected yourself, it served you not to trust, and that it prevented you from being wronged in some way.

Maybe.

Or, you prevented creative opportunities from being explored and actualized.

Gratitude Reciprocates

June 22, 2017 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

Since the movie, The Secret, and the more recent video of actor, Matthew McConaughey’s award acceptance speech, there’s been a lot of buzz about how being in gratitude reciprocates.

The buzz isn’t all anecdontal either. According to the Institute of Heart Math, when one expresses gratitude, one reaches a state where your breathing, heart rate, and brain waves are working together at levels of optimum performance. In this state, you are able to stay relaxed regardless of the circumstances around you.

When reading the research, it reminded me of a story I wrote years ago. The story illustrates just how powerful being in a state of gratitude can shift your world.

One day, a business owner sat in her chair simply exhausted from her busy schedule. She was overwhelmed at her lengthy to do list, frustrated that one of her employees just quit, and was resigned that she would be working another weekend to catch up.

Each evening before she went to bed, her mind was filled with hundreds of thoughts focused on what wasn’t working in her life. She was sleep deprived and, while running a profitable business, she wasn’t living her desired life.

In the next session with her business mentor, she complained about the laundry list of things that weren’t working. She criticized others and pointed to a lack of resources.

After a few minutes, her mentor asked her to share what blessings came her way. She replied sarcastically, “Well, I found a penny, I’ll be rich in no time!”

Suddenly, she stopped herself. She recognized that she wasn’t living into one of the key principles she learned about just weeks earlier: The Principle of Conscious Thought – to be genuinely grateful for even the smallest blessings.

In that moment, she realized that she was stopping the flow of abundance if, in her heart, she wasn’t truly grateful for the little things. With full responsibility, she acknowledged that she may have been the cause of why staffing resources were leaving because of her criticism. She recognized that she was postponing additional revenue opportunities from showing up since she wasn’t thankful for the smallest sum of money.

After committing to developing a consistent practice of gratitude, it didn’t take her long for her to realize the true power of the principle. In the weeks that followed, she would receive three phone calls. The first call came in from a business owner that resulted in one of their largest contracts. The second call was from the ideal candidate for her open position. The third call was from her husband who planned a surprise vacation.

Gratitude reciprocates. When you create a consistent practice of being grateful, opportunities come in abundance regularly and effortlessly. Shift your conscious thoughts focusing on the smallest blessings and watch as you create a space to invite more of what you desire into your life.

Mastering Your Inner Entrepreneur: Step Into Your Greater Self

June 8, 2017 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

Prosperity Expert and Best Selling Author, Randy Gage, recently wrote, “Your happiness, harmony and prosperity aren’t determined by the situations you face, but how you judge those situations.” There is a lot of truth in these words.

As a business owner, you want things to go your way and in your time frame. If you’ve been in business any length of time, you know that thinking things will always go your way and in your time frame is laughable. Even though you prepare and plan, you will need address unexpected situations.

For most business owners, the default is to judge a situation by pointing at how unreasonable the person is being, how unfair you’re being treated, or how the timing is not working out in your favor.

Consider an alternative.

Consider how you judge those situations. As I shared in my book, Me, Myself, and Why? The Secrets to Navigating Change, early in my career, I was working for a company and saw an opportunity to be promoted. At the same time, I had just discovered that I had a malignancy and needed to go through treatment. The CEO decided to bring in a Director from another location to oversee operations. I was disappointed and relieved at the same time.

There were many negative stories that I had made up in my head that contributed to my feeling deflated. What I learned later is that the Director was temporarily transferred to our location so that she could be transferred when a different location was opened.

What I hadn’t considered is that the leadership saw my potential. I just needed to learn additional skills and life lessons that would prepare me to step into a more advanced role.

At some point, I decided to be open to learn all I could learn and be seen as someone who was promotable. It only took months for the entire situation to turn around. Shortly after, I was promoted to the role, got healthy, and learned some valuable lessons.

The next time something doesn’t work out in your favor, take 100% responsibility for the situation. Consider that you are experiencing the situation so that you can step up and into your greater self as a leader.

There is a poem that I often share with my clients. If inspired, feel free to share it with those people you’re standing for in the world.

I Am Standing for You
By Lisa Mininni

When I suggest a greater goal,
I’m standing for you because you are capable of more.

When I say no,
I’m standing for you because you have the ability to make it happen.

When I challenge your idea,
I’m standing for you because you’re creative beyond measure.

When I don’t buy into your excuses,
I’m standing for you to be the remarkable soul you already are.

When I hold you to account,
I’m standing for the contribution you say you want to make for others.

When I stand for you,
it’s because the world needs you.

Graceful Leadership is an Art

May 18, 2017 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

The other day I saw a LinkedIn post by Dr. Shawne Duperon that said, Today, I gracefully let it go. It had me thinking about graceful leadership.

Graceful leadership is an art. It’s being comfortably uncomfortable. It’s that place where plans may not be clear but you’re powerfully leading your team through ambiguity.

Graceful leadership is being curious in the face of opposing viewpoints. You seek to understand rather than forcing to be understood.

Graceful leadership is being direct with someone without being abrasive.

It’s being a generous listener to notice not only what someone is saying but what they are not saying.

It’s holding someone to account because you see that they are capable of rising to a new level and they are inspired to step into their higher self.

It’s being unattached so you create the space for innovation.

Graceful leadership isn’t always easy but it causes powerful transformations.

Where could you practice graceful leadership in your business?

Mastering Your Inner Entrepreneur: It’s Like Riding a Bike

February 23, 2017 by Lisa Mininni Leave a Comment

Think back to the first time you learned to ride your bicycle without your training wheels. Perhaps you felt excited, fearful, or even a little apprehensive.

You got up on the bicycle not knowing. You didn’t know if you could ride by yourself. You didn’t know if you would get hurt. You didn’t know if you would succeed.

In that moment, you decided to get back on the bike. You discovered by riding what worked and what didn’t. You pedaled faster and faster and faster until you mastered it.

You lost your balance. You fell.

You got up again. You tried again.

You got better each time. Each time you went a little further.

You didn’t stop yourself despite the falls.

You didn’t say, “I’ll think about.”

You didn’t say, “Maybe some day.”

You didn’t say, “I need to do this perfectly.”

Right?

Then, why do you say these phrases while running your business?
